From the Massif de Rasteau, the terroirs of Les Buisserons, Grand Vallat and La Coupe d'Haut on a stony soil, this sumptuous 2017 vintage of Rasteau is composed of a powerful but remarkably well-balanced Grenache/Carignan blend, deep, with a dominant of black fruits and black pepper. Sensual and refined on the palate, the Richaud signature bringing its silky, elegant and persistent tannins.

The Estate Marcel Richaud

Marcel Richaud is one of those exceptional winemakers who seek quality without compromise. He defines his way of creating his organic wines as follows: a natural approach to winemaking, questioning the use of products or techniques that erase the identity of the vintage or contribute to the production of standard wines. The organic bottles produced at Cairanne by the Marcel Richaud estate are without equal. The attention paid by Marcel Richaud to the vines and the vinification, have made the Richaud estate a reference in terms of greed and freshness for the wines of the Rhone Valley. The prices are more than reasonable considering the quality of the wines produced

The Estate Sottimano

Rino Sottimano took over the estate in 1975. His son Andrea joined him in 1994 along with Elena and Claudia. The vineyard is located in the heart of the superb Barbaresco terroirs and the Cotta, Currà, Fausoni, Pajorè and Basarin crus and now covers 18 hectares. The vines are cultivated organically with the utmost respect for the terroir. The wines are aged in barrels according to Burgundy principles (not in tuns). The wines are neither filtered nor fined. The production of the estate is gradually joining the best references of the region with prices still very reasonable considering the growing reputation of the estate. Quote from Rino Sottimano: "I always believe that every great wine is the result of serious, conscientious and passionate work in the vineyards. This is why, from day one, I have always tried to avoid all chemical products and herbicides, to preserve the natural balance of our soils."
