This Bessard-Méal cuvée is undoubtedly the estate's flagship wine. This great Hermitage, whose reputation is well established, is the fruit of the blending of these two sectors, which are among the most prestigious in the appellation. Bernard Faurie has produced a superb Hermitage with strength and power, and a lot of volume in the mouth.
On the eve of a well-deserved retirement, Bernard Faurie is making a confidential production of Hermitage.
His vines are cultivated with respect for the environment (non-certified organic) and most of them are over 40 years old. They are planted on altered granite and mica schist soils.
A discreet and meticulous winemaker, Bernard Faurie produces Hermitage reds of very high quality, recognised by enlightened lovers of elegant and refined wines. They come from the most noble climates of the hill: Greffieux, Bessards and Méal. They are matured for a minimum of 12 months in barrels (sometimes much longer) and are characterised by notes of violet and blackcurrant.
The quality/price ratio of these Hermitages is staggering!
Bernard Faurie also produces a confidential white Hermitage from Greffieux (between 600 and 800 bottles per year).
