Coleraine
Fabulous aroma of blackcurrant, cigar box, purple almond and toasted almond on the nose. The palate offers impressive concentration and volume, as well as a silky texture and fleshy mouthfeel, yet remains elegant and refreshing. The tannins are fine, chalky and of consistent volume, giving the wine a classic structure. Once again, Coleraine offers spectacular complexity, refinement and presence with undeniable potential for magnificent evolution.

Following the majestic 2013 offering, this is another phenomenal wine of sophistication and sublime seduction. Fabulous aroma of cassis, cigar box, violet and toasted almond on the nose. The palate delivers awesome concentration and weight, together with silky texture and fleshy mouthfeel, while remaining elegant and refreshing. Tannins are fine, chalky and exquisitely proportioned, making the wine classically structured. Once again Coleraine offers spectacular complexity, refinement and presence with an undeniable potential to evolve magnificently. This is back to back perfection. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc. At its best: 2025 to 2040.

A tougher selection resulted in a slightly lower than normal production (3,500 cases). Rich, quite dense and predictably classy wine, with red and black berry fruits, spice, anise and spicy oak flavours. Beautifully structured red - high energy with lovely integration of fruit and oak. A wine that more than lives up to its stellar reputation and shows obvious potential (6/2016)

Impenetrable black-red colour, near saturated, and with youthful purple hues. This has a wonderfully layered, aromatic nose with an array of black and red berried fruits, dark herbs, minerals and dark florals, and subtle oak lift and toastiness. The nose has considerable depth and a concentrated core that unfolds in waves with intricate detail, and is expressed with freshness and piquancy. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion but is multi-dimensional as it reveals layers of blackcurrants, dark red plums, cassis liqueur, black ink, minerals, fresh herbs, leafy and tobacco elements. The fruit is supported by fine-grained, but firm tannin structure that grows in grip to fill the palate. The extraction is balanced by fresh, mouthwatering, acid cut that enhances the fruit sweetness and lends poise, tension and drive. The wine carries to a very long, concentrated and intense finish packed with succulent and vibrant fruit. This is a vibrant, succulent and fully structured Coleraine with aromatic freshness and vitality. It will evolve over the next decade and a half. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 17 months in 70% new French oak.

The Estate Te Mata
