L'Etoile - Montangis - Sous voile
The new Montangis cuvée, made from a plot of vines that are almost a hundred years old, is generous, in the style of the estate, with a very nice taste of veil and dynamic fruit, on a full and fat structure.
The vineyard was planted in 1930 with a very old parcel of Chardonnay, supplemented by a few Savagnin and Poulsard vines.
Nicole Derieux: "Montangis is the oldest parcel of our estate: planted in 1930 by Victor Gros with a density of 10,000 vines/ha of chardonnay grapes with a few vines of savagnin and poulsard. The fermentation is simple with indigenous yeasts and the ageing is done first in tuns and then in 500 litre barrels under veil. The soil is covered by a layer of limestone with pebbles, small fossils or crinoids in the shape of stars; the subsoil is marly. 2015 was a magnificent sunny vintage associated with a small yield on this parcel. These elements give us a powerful, fat and full wine!"
