Velvety, masterful, a Pessac with a great future... Carmes Haut-Brion reveals itself to be elegant, structured and complex, with beautiful floral nuances, suitable for long cellaring.

"The 2016 red is the most compelt and brilliant wine of the estate. It displays a distinction and a class of tannins that place it among the elite." 18/20 RVF Guide 2019

A neighbour of the prestigious Haut-Brion, Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion now covers some ten hectares, recently enlarged with the purchase of neighbouring plots. The vineyard is planted with 55% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, with some Cabernet Sauvignon. Its terroir, which is fairly warm due to its proximity to the city of Bordeaux, is composed of red gravel and clay on a limestone base. Since 2010, it has been owned by Patrimoniale Foncière Pichet and benefits from the advice of Stéphane Derenoncourt. A new cellar was inaugurated in the spring of 2015 in collaboration with the famous designer Philippe Starck. Everything here suggests the owners' ambition to raise their wine to the top of the appellation. And it has all the potential.

The Estate Le Clos du Caillou

The Clos du Caillou estate has the particularity of being an enclave adjacent to the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation area. The vineyard is made up of 44 hectares of Côtes du Rhône and 9 hectares of Châteauneuf du Pape, planted for the most part in 1956. It is composed of the 13 grape varieties authorised for the production of a Châteauneuf du Pape, the Grenache grape variety is the majority for the red wines, followed by Syrah, while the clairette rose, the grenache blanc and the roussanne share the majority of the white grape varieties. The soils here are particularly rich, sandy or pebbly, making it possible to produce wines of exemplary aromatic complexity.
All these specificities, gathered at the heart of the Clos du Caillou estate, allow us to offer very high quality Côtes du Rhône wines, such as the magnificent Quartz vintage, which demonstrates the richness of these exceptional terroirs. In addition, Sylvie Vacheron and Bruno Gaspard have been converting the estate to organic farming since 2006. The 2010 vintage was the first to benefit from the organic label (AB), which completes the quality of the work undertaken for decades. An estate to be followed closely, with all the qualities to produce the best... Discover the best vintages on the Passionnés du Vin website; Bouquet des garrigues, Quartz, Safres, Cuvée réserve; all of these vintages will brighten up your taste buds (in moderation) and go wonderfully well with a multitude of dishes, for an exceptional tasting experience.

The Estate Les Carmes Haut-Brion
