Magnum Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot
This Clos Blanc exhales a generous and greedy nose of flowers and fruits, supported by a fine woodiness and a minerality which gives it a sublime balance.
The white Vougeot is salty, sapid, with a particular and fine grain: refined, slender, it is complete.
In the area known as Le Clos Blanc, on 2.28 hectares of very chalky soil, suitable for growing Chardonnay, the monks of Citeaux decided in 1100 to produce their mass wine. Another historical feature of Le Clos Blanc is that it remains a monopoly, today in the hands of the Domaine de la Vougeraie.
Pierre Vincent, the estate's manager since 2006, applies biodynamic principles and the soil is ploughed with a horse. The vineyard has been certified organic since 1999. The wine is aged in barrels for about 18 months (30% new barrels), with regular stirring of the lees in most vintages.
