The Estate Huet
The Vouvray wines of Domaine Huet, with a worldwide reputation for its Vouvray wines, is a very old house. It has been in existence since 1928, located east of Tours on land planted exclusively with Chenin grapes.
The estate extends over 35 hectares on 3 distinct properties. The first, the Mont, has a stony soil, mostly clay and containing silica. Le Haut-Lieu has a clay-limestone soil, while the third, Clos du Bourg, has a limestone soil. All these terroirs are particularly well suited to producing unique wines of remarkable precision, much appreciated by connoisseurs.
The Vouvray Huet white wines are dry, semi-dry, sweet or mellow, and all the vintages are made organically. The Huet estate is one of the precursors of the biodynamic culture. Each production benefits from a cold fermentation in used barrels. Bottling takes place the following spring. This choice highlights the excellent quality of the production of Domaine Huet. This is enhanced by the quality of its vines, which allow the development of these exceptional terroirs. Jean-Bernard Berthomé, the current vineyard manager, ensures the ideal distribution of the vines. Half of the plantations are between 30 and 50 years old, 35% are between 10 and 30 years old, while only 15% of the vines are less than 10 years old. The best vintages, in several vintages (including old ones) can be found on the Les Passionnés Du Vin website, offered in limited quantities for the rarest. The Estate Le Clos du Caillou
The Clos du Caillou estate has the particularity of being an enclave adjacent to the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation area. The vineyard is made up of 44 hectares of Côtes du Rhône and 9 hectares of Châteauneuf du Pape, planted for the most part in 1956. It is composed of the 13 grape varieties authorised for the production of a Châteauneuf du Pape, the Grenache grape variety is the majority for the red wines, followed by Syrah, while the clairette rose, the grenache blanc and the roussanne share the majority of the white grape varieties. The soils here are particularly rich, sandy or pebbly, making it possible to produce wines of exemplary aromatic complexity.
All these specificities, gathered at the heart of the Clos du Caillou estate, allow us to offer very high quality Côtes du Rhône wines, such as the magnificent Quartz vintage, which demonstrates the richness of these exceptional terroirs. In addition, Sylvie Vacheron and Bruno Gaspard have been converting the estate to organic farming since 2006. The 2010 vintage was the first to benefit from the organic label (AB), which completes the quality of the work undertaken for decades.
