Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière

La Fussière is a dense Maranges Premier Cru with an assertive character that will require several years of cellaring.

The Domaine is built around a two hundred year old building with exceptional vaulted cellars where the wines are housed and matured in oak barrels (20% renewed each year). Since then, the estate has acquired a fully thermo-regulated vat room and bottle cellar.

A family estate

Since 1830, generations of CHEVROT winegrowers have succeeded one another in the Maranges. From 1936 to 1968, Paul and Henriette CHEVROT put their heart and soul into setting up the estate by acquiring the vines and the house. Then came Catherine and Fernand Chevrot whose love for the Maranges and the wines they produce led them to distribute the entire production in bottles directly from the estate. They have also passed on this love to their children Vincent and Pablo who studied at the oenology faculties of Dijon and Bordeaux. Pablo joined the estate in 2002 and Vincent in 2007, they look after the vineyard and the vinification.

Respect for the environment

For several years, the vineyard has been in the process of converting to organic farming. Treatments based on synthetic chemical products have disappeared, in favour of practices and treatments that are more respectful of the environment and of the employees; tillage has replaced herbicides. The results are already visible in the vineyard, the fauna has been enriched by all sorts of insects, plants and animals. The game is not mistaken and does some damage to us. The grapes have gained in maturity and precocity.
