Double Magnum Emilien
A unique style in the whole of Bordeaux! Made from vines planted with 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Carménère, Emilien is a wine obtained by decanting in experienced tuns and barrels for 24 months. This wine, of great finesse, can be drunk young, thanks to its velvety tannins, or wait several decades to taste all the depth of its terroir. This wine has great longevity. Emilien, unfiltered, is the natural accompaniment to both family cuisine and the most delicate dishes. A little marvel of softness and delicacy. TO KNOW MORE: This is one of the rare estates in the Bordeaux region that works the way the ancients did to offer wines of character, incomparable fruitiness and a magnificent expression of their terroir. The organic and biodynamic methods used by the Amoreau family are in fact the same as those used by the estate since their installation in 1610. Of course, the technique has evolved (for example, temperature control is done by self-regulating probes) but Mr Amoreau is proud to preserve the ecosystem of his modest Côtes de Francs vineyard. The Château is located in Saint-Cibard, north-west of Saint-Emilion, overlooking the Dordogne. Merlot is king on the right bank (87% of the vineyard) and Cabernet Sauvignon (11% ripens sufficiently). Carménère and Semillon for the whites complete a nice range of authentic and deep wines. The vines are on average 50 years old, planted at 5500 vines per hectare on clay-limestone and silica-limestone soils, and yield less than 30 hectolitres per hectare. This explains the beautiful concentration of these wines! The healthy bunches, which have had no chemical fertilisers, herbicides or synthetic insecticides added, are of course picked by hand and de-stemmed. Fermentation starts without yeast and chaptalisation is unknown at the Amoreau. The wine is tasted every week and aged for 2 years in 3 to 5 year old barrels and foudres, which are themselves sanitized with steam. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtration or fining, in the middle of the old moon. A wax envelope on the cork finalizes the excellence of the work of our honest winemaker. Château Le Puy's long-keeping wines are offered in 3 vintages (2 red and 1 white). And the estate created its wine library in 1917 in its own cellars and can now offer us old vintages dating back to its creation!
