A special wine...
Each year, Château Le Puy takes eight barrels of its best wine on board the Tres Hombres, a 32m long brigantine, the only sailing cargo ship without a motor in the world.
During almost a year of sailing on the Atlantic, the waves, the swell and all the hazards of the ocean energise this wine. The winemaking process is anything but traditional: it allows the wine to evolve in a unique way.
The barrels had a journey that will make many dream: starting from Brittany, the Tres Hombres sailed along the Spanish coast, stopping first in Lisbon. Afterwards, the ship sailed down to Cape Verde before embarking on the great crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. The sunny and paradisiacal stages follow one another: Belem, Barbados, the Dominican Republic... A passage to Amsterdam and then Copenhagen on the way back will complete this mythical voyage.
Mythical, the "Retour des Îles" vintage is necessarily so. Tasting it is a real explosion of flavours: supple tannins, powerful aromas of red fruits, a round and fleshy mouth... This wine, with its exceptional ageing potential, is unlike anything you have ever drunk before.
The journey continues on the palate and its memory will remain as long as the waves roll in on the Atlantic...
