Vin Doux Naturel Grenat
André Romero and his son Frédéric, owners of the 28 hectare Domaine de la Soumade, make beautiful vintages of this natural sweet wine from old Grenache vines.
A clay-limestone terroir, with blue clay on the surface, a traditional vinification and then a mutage using marc alcohol to stop the fermentation, gives a sweet red wine with an intense purple garnet colour.
The nose is initially of prunes with a subtle smell of smoke.
As soon as it is aired, dried figs and dates appear.
The palate is ample and fluid with great finesse and balance.
To be enjoyed with .... Roquefort cheese, a superb accompaniment for a black forest!
