Rhum Angostura 1919
Originating in Trinidad, this wonderful añejo is a balanced blend of light and robust molasses rums, the youngest of which is at least 8 years old. Aged in American oak bourbon barrels (burnt inside), this rum owes its name to the discovery of barrels dating back to 1919, but discovered in 1932 following a fire that destroyed the government bonded warehouse
Sweet nose: cocoa, molasses, toffee, vanilla, caramel.
Mouth: Remarkably smooth and well rounded. A burst of generous, honeyed flavours; notes of hazelnut and toast.
This Rum has a beautiful amber colour and is very attractive with coffee and caramel nuances. It is also quite concentrated in its visual appearance.
Finish: Warming and soothing.
Trinidad and Tobago Islands
Even though the so-called "English" islands (from Jamaica to Trinidad) have long since freed themselves from British rule, they have retained a pre-eminence in rum making from their origins. This is because the Anglo-Saxons developed the sugar and rum industry from the 17th century onwards, particularly for the royal navy, well before the French and Spanish.
