Oca demonstrates once again the incredible quality of these old Maccabeu wines. "Madly energetic, this wine of great salinity perfectly combines bitterness and a sharp profile, with great precision and length

Seen on the land registry, this 60 year old vineyard planted with macabeu on schist soils covered with a vein of red clay, is shaped like a goose, "l'Oca" in Catalan.

Marjorie Gallet is a brilliant winemaker who, in just a few vintages, and with the help of her husband Stéphane, has been able to impose a personal tone on a production made up of a majority of old Grenache and Carignan grapes.
The wines have rapidly progressed in finesse, while remaining very Catalan in their expression, and the cultivation of the vines is naturally taking an organic direction. If the 1903 vintage (100% carignan) has contributed greatly to the reputation of the estate, Iglesia Vella and Oca in white, are already at the same level.
The range is constantly expanding with new, stunning wines, and the rise in power here is phenomenal.

The Estate Le Roc des Anges

One of the great rising stars of the French wine industry...

Marjorie Gallet created the Roc des Anges estate

in 2001 in this magnificent region of Roussillon, in Montner, on a singular quartz vein where 25 hectares of old Grenache, Carignan, Maccabeu and Syrah express themselves to give birth to wines of very high quality, with a Catalan expression.

The terroir of ancient schist favours the rooting of the vines and preserves the coolness during the heat peaks. The natural yield of these old vines, which are on average 65 years old, is barely 17hl/ha, which gives an exceptional concentration...

The young and no less talented winemaker, joined in 2008 by Stéphane, adds the Terres de Faygara de Maury estate to her production
The Roc des Anges estate has always had an organic orientation and, since 2011, biodynamic viticulture has been a natural choice.

In the cellar, everything is done to preserve this very rich raw material, with notably a meticulous sorting and maturing as simple as possible but precise
All this requirement is naturally felt at the tasting in all the Roc des Anges cuvées, whether it is for the old vines in white and in red, or with the fabulous white Iglesia Vella of a precision and a formidable length
Equipped with a brand new cellar, this reference estate has not yet finished dazzling us...

The Estate Sottimano

Rino Sottimano took over the estate in 1975. His son Andrea joined him in 1994 along with Elena and Claudia. The vineyard is located in the heart of the superb Barbaresco terroirs and the Cotta, Currà, Fausoni, Pajorè and Basarin crus and now covers 18 hectares. The vines are cultivated organically with the utmost respect for the terroir. The wines are aged in barrels according to Burgundy principles (not in tuns). The wines are neither filtered nor fined. The production of the estate is gradually joining the best references of the region with prices still very reasonable considering the growing reputation of the estate. Quote from Rino Sottimano: "I always believe that every great wine is the result of serious, conscientious and passionate work in the vineyards. This is why, from day one, I have always tried to avoid all chemical products and herbicides, to preserve the natural balance of our soils."
