Pommard Les Petits Noizons
This biodynamic Pommard is quite powerful, very structured and racy. This plot is south facing and was replanted between 1985 and 1989. The vines are "sunny", ideally placed at the top of the hillside, and benefit from an excellent reverberation of heat to the grapes. The Petits Noizons draw from the very stony, very chalky and rather silty soil in depth.
Location: when you leave Beaune heading south, Pommard is the first village you come across, just before Volnay. At an altitude of 300 metres, Les Petits Noizons is located on the Beaune side of the appellation, on the right-hand side of the road to Saint-Romain and the Petite Combe.
News from the vineyard: The vines are ridged in winter. Spraying with nettle and rhubarb tea (new), horsetail decoction and silica, tansy, willow, horsetail, yarrow and tansy. Evasivate in spring.
HISTORY
En Noyons was said in patois and it was once a place where there were walnut trees. Pommard belonged to Alix de Vergy, Duchess of Burgundy in the 13th century, then to the archbishops of Lyon, to the ducal domain, and to the great families of the Province. As for the vines, they are linked to the entire history of Burgundy. The monks of the abbey of Saint-Bénigne in Dijon, of Cîteaux, the knights of Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem watched over their harvests here. Just like Gaspard Monge, father of geometry and dignitary of the Empire: his daughter had married the local squire, Nicolas-Joseph Marey.
