An
A rarity from the Balearic Islands and the Callet grape variety!
In order to be able to use old Callet vines, Anima Negra had to work on plots of land that also contained other grape varieties. Although these were high quality vines, the use of international varieties did not fit in with AN's philosophy.
For this reason, he decided to create a new cuvée, a blend of half Callet, supplemented by Fogoneu, Manto Negro, Syrah, Cabernet and Grenache, in roughly equal quantities. The wine is aged for 9 months in French and American barrels. The result is exceptional.
The Callet grape:
This rare grape variety (less than 420 ha worldwide) originates from the island of Majorca. It is a low-yielding variety. It is usually blended with other varieties such as Cabernet, Manto Negro or Fogoneu to produce powerful and spicy wines. Callet brings complexity and has a good aptitude for barrel ageing. Typical aromas of this variety are strawberry and cherry, as well as spices.
