Peated
Magnificent peated whisky from the end of the world!
Originating from Tasmania, Hellyers Road Peated is a real challenger to the Islay malts. Since its launch in 2010, HR Peated has gained in depth, with notes of tobacco, ashes (hearth), smoked bacon and camphor. To be rediscovered.
THE BRAND
Still bottled at 46,2%, without chill filtering and without adding caramel, the single malt of the Hellyers Road distillery is a real local product. Unlike many other whiskies, the brewing, distillation and bottling stages take place on site, and the majority of the malt used comes from the region. First distilled in 1999, the whisky owes its character - in addition to the terroir - to a cool climate that favours long ageing, to a mastery of cask maturation and to its rich range of peated and unpeated versions, classic maturations and maturations.
THE DISTILLERY
Australia's largest micro-distillery (100,000 litres per annum), Hellyers Road was founded in 1997. Located on the island of Tasmania - best known for its wines, salmon and rich green countryside - the distillery owes its existence to the passion for whisky shared by the owner of a dairy cooperative and a professional distiller: together they decided to create a new milk, this one malted and of course more Scottish in spirit! First distilled in 1999, the whisky was quickly appreciated by connoisseurs and is now one of the best exports from the island and one of the best known Australian whiskies.
