Fabien Duperray's wines are unique in Beaujolais.
After 20 years of criss-crossing the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, Fabien Duperray took the step of buying vines and taking the gamble of showing that on the great terroirs of Beaujolais one can make wines of a level comparable to the greatest Burgundy or Rhone wines.
The selection of the plots was uncompromising, the work in the vineyard put in the foreground with a biodynamic culture, very small yields (less than 30hl/ha) on very old vines.
An optimal harvest, not destemmed, gentle fermentations with indigenous yeasts, followed by a long ageing period of 2 years.
In the end, the wines are marked by stones and granite, without any of the fermenting aromas of Beaujolais, but with a magnificent cherry and Morello cherry flavour.
