Château Meyney
Superb value for money and pleasure again in this great vintage for Meyney.
A neighbour of Montrose, Château Meyney benefits from a first-rate terroir on the banks of the Gironde: siliceous gravel on a vein of blue clay which gives the wine its exceptional dimension. The 51 hectares of vines are composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot, a singular proportion in Saint-Estephe, which gives the wine its freshness and uprightness.
The first vines of Meyney were planted in 1662 by the Pères Feuillants. Since 2004, the estate has belonged to Crédit Agricole Grands Crus. Under the technical direction of Anne Le Naour, and with the advice of oenologist Denis Dubourdieu, Meyney is currently undergoing a formidable revival. The wines are powerful and racy, with dense and firm tannins, offering intense and suave fruit that evolves towards spices, leather and musk with age. Their ageing potential is considerable.
