Comte Abbatucci
In the Taravo valley, not far from Propriano, the Comte Abbatucci estate continues to shine through its contribution to the revaluation of Corsican native grape varieties. Jean-Baptiste Abbatucci, a biodynamist, implements his father's passion as an ampelographer by cultivating the soils naturally (biodynamics since 2000) in order to restore the natural brilliance of all the Corsican grape varieties of yesteryear.
The 18 hectares of the Comte Abbatucci estate are planted mainly with vermentino, sciacarello and niellucio grapes, mainly for the Faustine cuvées, and supplemented by a dozen or so old grape varieties reserved for the estate's top-of-the-range cuvées.
These three famous cuvées, named General, Minister and Diplomat, were named in homage to the family's political and military ancestors. All the cuvées of the estate, from the Faustine cuvée onwards, are of remarkable aromatic complexity, developing aromas that are typical of the Corsican maquis, immortelle and myrtle to name but two, perfectly reflecting the Corsican terroir and its very singular personality.
