Corryvreckan

A very peaty, smoky, iodized, malty whisky. Maître Tseng evokes a lightly smoked red tea from the Fujian province, Song Yan, for its dried fruit (longan) and precious wood flavours.

Located between the islands of Jura and Scarba, "Coirebhreacain", which means "cauldron of the speckled seas" in the language of Shakespeare, is the third largest marine eddy in the world. Behind this abstruse name lies an Ardbeg that explores, in length and breadth, the first stages of single malt production: malting, fermentation and distillation. For the moment, the casks in which it has been aged are only there to allow it to breathe. The woody notes will have to wait a few more years. Legend has it that a young Viking named Breacan had to survive three days and three nights in the biggest whirlpool in Europe: Corryvreckan, to prove his love to the daughter of the Lord of the Isles.
