Rio de Los Pajaros
This wine is a blend of Tannat, Syrah and Viognier. It comes from the last generation of vines of the Pisano estate. These vines allow the wine to have a high concentration of tannins and delicate aromas. The wine is aged in French casks for approximately 6 months.
Rio de los Pajaros has a beautiful purple-black colour. You will first be seduced by its pleasant aromas of plums and violets sublimated by notes of liquorice, cinnamon and pepper. On the palate, pleasant blueberry and black cherry flavours prevail. The finish is long and the tannins perfectly balanced.
This Uruguayan wine is a perfect accompaniment to pasta dishes, risottos and mushrooms.
The Pisano estate is located about 25 km north of Montevideo, close to Rio de la Plata. The Pisano family has been in Uruguay since the early 20th century and has been producing wine since 1924. The 15 hectares of vines on the estate grow on clay-limestone soil, benefiting from intense sunshine and cool winds from the Atlantic. Yields per hectare are low and the grapes are harvested by hand. After 6 months of ageing, the wines are released to the market. Eduardo Pisano believes in natural and traditional winemaking methods, with minimum disruption to his wines. This philosophy has made this estate one of the most prestigious in Uruguay.
