Pape Clément
What a success for this vintage! It offers a magnificent nose, ripe and precise, and the palate is perfectly balanced with a beautiful aromatic persistence, all with a pleasant freshness and unctuous tannins.
"This wine is very fine and spicy and preserves the creamy spirit of Pape Clément. Certainly the best red produced by the estate since the shift to a less flashy character." 19/20 RVF Guide 2019
"A voluptuous nose, intensely fruity, with notes of smoke, cocoa, eucalyptus and incense, a palate that reflects the enz, with a tight and tasty frame, bone structure but no rigour, freshness and great length. A monument. Very Pessac" 18/20 Bettane + Desseauve Guide 2019
With its Grand Cru Classé de Graves, Pape Clément is among the greatest wines of Bordeaux by its bouquet and its power. All its elegance reminds us of how the Bordeaux tradition remains unrivalled.
The care given to Château Pape Clément and to this terroir whose exceptional virtues have made the reputation of Pessac for over 7 centuries.
At Pape Clément, pruning and leaf removal are of the highest standard, as is the hand-picking of the grapes. The vinification and maturing methods used at Pape Clément follow very strict rules. Everything is done at Château Pape Clément so that nature can express its best without hindrance.
Classified for its red wines, Château Pape Clément is an essential reference in Pessac-Léognan, dating from the Middle Ages. The red vineyard covers 50 hectares, with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot, complemented by Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The white vines (7.2 hectares) are divided between Sauvignon and Semillon, with 1.5% Muscadelle. The estate, which belongs to Bernard Magrez, benefits from the advice of oenologist Michel Rolland. Its red wines are of remarkable quality and express the smoky notes of their terroir, with hints of vanilla.
