Luciano Sandrone
Located in the municipality of Barolo, Luciano, together with his brother Luca, produces some of the greatest wines of Piedmont. A former cellar master at the Marchesi di Barolo Cooperative, Luciano managed to acquire a hectare in the famous "Cannubi Boschis".
In 1978, he released his first vintage and this magnificent Barolo immediately caused a sensation. Then came Le Vigne, a synergy of four vineyards that were very different from each other in terms of altitude, soil composition and exposure.
Valmaggiore, whose first vintage was released in 1994, is the result of Luciano's incredible passion for the Nebbiolo grape, the desire to show how its expression can vary depending on the soil in which it is grown. Located on the other side of the Roero, the plot is a south-facing cirque on sandy soil.
Today, the estate covers 25 hectares, 22 of which are Barolo, and its reputation is worldwide. The wines are of great straightness and purity. The textures are dense, smooth and the tannins fine. They have a deep and complex range of aromas. Great ageing potential for the Barolo and greediness of the Dolcetto and Barbera
