Guffens-Heynen
The history of the Guffens-Heynen estate began in 1976 when the young couple decided to settle in the Mâconnais after living in Flanders. In 1979, Jean-Marie Guffens acquired a few plots of land to highlight what he had learned previously and let his instinct guide him
The wines were soon noticed by the greatest critics who highlighted his performances. The Guffens-Heynen "touch" was born! Jean-Marie Guffens belongs to the small circle of artist-winemakers with an innate sense of wine, his vocation is real, the wines speak for him and one can only salute the talent of the winemaker. Sensitivity, creation and passion are the characteristics of the man that we find in his precious nectars.
Today, the estate covers 5.3 hectares, including one hectare in Pouilly-Fuissé. The grapes are harvested by hand, usually in several stages to ensure perfect ripeness of the berries, which are regularly tasted before being picked. The yields are around 18 hectolitres per hectare!
In the cellar, all the stages are simplified to the maximum but carried out with the precision of a goldsmith to bring out the authenticity of the wines. The result is wines that are both pure and racy, full of minerality, reflecting their terroir of origin.
The wines of Guffens-Heynen are unquestionably great wines, the only problem being their unfortunately very limited production each year...
