Alain Voge

Cornas is really the appellation to follow in the Northern Rhône as its progression is spectacular. Among the numerous quality winegrowers of the appellation, the domain Alain Voge is part of the elite (2 stars RVF from now on), of that of Saint-Péray too, still unknown and yet among the great whites of the region. Since 2004, the estate has benefited from the impetus of Albéric Mazoyer, who runs the estate and who very quickly converted the entire vineyard to biodynamic viticulture, 100% since 2013. Alain Voge's vision of replanting these abandoned hillsides is now proving to be a stroke of genius. The 12-hectare estate has stony soils (Syrah and Marsanne) with steep slopes that require 100% manual work. The work is done by hand in the vineyard as well as in the cellar, where the grapes are totally or partially destemmed depending on the vintage. The work carried out on the soils is already having an effect, and the wines have gained in aromatic purity and minerality in recent years. The Saint-Péray wines are very good representatives of the region, in particular the Fleur de Crussol cuvée which can compete with the great Hermitage wines of the neighbouring region, at half the price... As for the Cornas, they are among the greatest cuvées of the whole Northern Rhône, juicy, spicy, concentrated with a very deep terroir signature and a great capacity for ageing, a fine work of art..
