Clos des Cistes
Clos des Cistes is Marlène Soria's masterpiece. It offers a smoky and ashy palette on this very beautiful 2004.
The wine has a garnet colour. The nose is pleasant with red fruits, blackcurrant, black raspberry and cherry jam, topped off with a smoky note.
The palate is remarkable, firmly tannic and with a bitter finish.
A broad aromatic palette (floral notes, ripe black fruits, spices), volume, sensuality and extreme complexity to sum up this superb cuvee!

Food and wine pairing :
roast leg of lamb with prunes and almonds, pressed cooked cheeses (Beaufort, Pécorino, Emmental) and uncooked cheeses (Cantal, Gouda, Saint-Nectaire, Ossau-Iraty).
Marlène Soria fell in love with this landscape one evening when she arrived at sunset on the heights of Saint Pargoire, in the middle of the heather, the intoxicating garrigue and the pink rockroses, and decided to make her wine in this wild setting.
From then on, intense work in the vineyard, planting, buying up vines, making her first vintage in 1988 in the open-air cellar and the disillusionment of selling her wine to the cooperative.
A difficult period that ended when discerning tasters discovered the quality of Domaine Peyre Rose wines.
There is a real attention to detail in Marlène Soria's approach. Taking the time to do things and doing them herself....
Today she is known as the Diva of Syrah by the specialist press.

"S'il fallait donner synonyme à Peyre Rose, ce serait sûrement mille et une nuits tant les finales sont envoûtantes.
Cette exploitation est conduite en agriculture biologique par Marlène Soria.
Elle produit 3 cuvées de rouge à dominante de Syrah : le Clos des Cistes, Syrah Léone et depuis le millésime 2003, Marlène n°3 sur un nouveau terroir.
Les Cistes proviennent de la partie la plus haute du domaine, installée sur des sols caillouteux très durs.
Cette cuvée porte plus d'acidité que Syrah Léone, installée sur des roches plus friables et facilement traversées par l'eau : c'est souvent la cuvée la plus sensuelle.
Marlène n°3 n'est ni un troisième ni un second vin. Troisième plantation du domaine, c'est certainement la mieux plantée des parcelles avec une proportion plus importante de grenache, elle est celle qui gagne le plus au vieillissement.
En blanc, oro est à base de rolle, de roussanne et de viognier, complétés par plusieurs autres cépages languedociens." 4*/5 Bettane+Desseauve
