Golden yellow color.
Very aromatic nose, between the fruity (yellow fishing, quince), spices (cumin) and plants (Dill, angelic).
In the mouth the attack is soft, without missing a beautiful vivacity. Following an aromatic register very extended, faithful to that of the nose, with more a hint of black pepper and ginger.
The final, sweet and warm, has a certain persistence and a nice residual heat.
Spread throughout Scandinavia, aquavit (from the word latin aqua vitae, brandy) differs little vodka by its mode of development (by stills to column continuous distillation), or even by its raw, if it is employment important potato Earth, the Nordic countries being poorer grain. Furthermore, it is common to use herbs and spices (mainly cumin) to give more taste to the iconic brandy from Scandinavian countries. But, by an unexpected historical coincidence, the Norway is developing for more than a century a very particular aquavit, the "line". Its origin dates back to 1805, when a Norwegian ship, the Trondheim Prove, leaving for India and Australia, with on Board of small barrels of aquavit having previously contained sherry. But brandy has little success, and the ship returned to Norway with his load. However, the length of the trip, the pitching of the ship, or even changes in temperature, give upon arrival a particularly interesting brandy, with a beautiful color amber, very soft and very aromatic. Jørgen Lysholm, whose family was owner of the ship, can smell a good deal, and after creating his distillery in Trondheim, make travel his aquavits on ships travelling in Asia, or even in Australia. The amazing no doubt, is that this unique method is still used today: the Lysholm Linie must travel nearly five months on a boat and cross the Equator twice (where its name) to take advantage of the brand! Used cargo ships, under the responsibility of the Norwegian company Wilhemsen, generally go to Australia or New Zealand. It is specified in the specification, that drums must travel on the decks of ships.
