In the area known as Le Clos Blanc, on 2.28 hectares of very chalky soil, suitable for growing Chardonnay, the monks of Citeaux decided in 1100 to produce their mass wine. Another historical feature of Le Clos Blanc is that it remains a monopoly, today in the hands of the Domaine de la Vougeraie.
Pierre Vincent, the estate's manager since 2006, applies biodynamic principles and the soil is ploughed with a horse. The vineyard has been certified organic since 1999. The wine is aged in barrels for about 18 months (30% new barrels), with regular stirring of the lees in most vintages.

The Domain La Vougeraie
With the Domaine de la Vougeraie, we enter the very closed circle of the greatest wines of Burgundy. The impetus of the Boisset family and the choices made since 1999 have propelled the estate to an impressive level of excellence. The Vougeraie estate now covers 34 hectares, two thirds of which are in the Côte de Nuits and one third in the Côte de Beaune, 70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay, with a production of around 100,000 bottles depending on the vintage. The name Vougeraie comes from Vougeot, which is why the estate owns 10 hectares of it... The estate is judiciously located in Premeaux-Prissey between the two hillsides, and has made the natural choice of biodynamic viticulture, 29 hectares of which adopt this method of cultivation which favours life in the vineyard and wines of obvious purity. To achieve optimum results, yields have been drastically reduced to harvest grapes that are always ripe and concentrated, often in whole harvests, and the team's winemaking work is ultra-precise, combining ancestral techniques with modern technology.The Domain La Vougeraie
