Magic, dance, violin... sensuality to all floors. It is a masterpiece of complexity that built the Altenberg, with this astounding regularity that
is the seal of the real Grand Crus vineyards.

Terroir argilo calcareous sandstone, all Alsace varietals complantation, in line with the Decree

Dress of great complexity, huge "tears", an important fat.

-' Mental landscape': overloaded, bright, shimmering landscape sharing between hot and cold, gold and blood.

-Mouth touch: proximity to Altenberg de Bergheim 2015 is incredible; We find the same
Magic, this Oriental sensuality expressed as a Byzantine Palace, images and Visual shocks at all
the floors, behind each door. Everything is carefully organized around two axes: axis
sedimentary landscape both calcareous and clay - fine and thick - crystalline vertical axis showing the sandstone
Roses and bringing lightness and drinkability.

-The port or the energy: it is no doubt to me that every open bottle will be drunk... with

The ALTENBERG DE BERGHEIM is located in the heart of the field of geological faults of RIBEAUVILLÉ that connects hard limestones of the Jurassic and the marls of the Lias. These formations rich in fossils formed a soil poor argilo-limestone, Red (ferruginous), rich in limestone, where the vine must dive deep to find his energy.

The microclimate of the ALTENBERG, result of its exposure South, its remoteness from the Vosges front and isolation facing the Rhine plain, is terribly hot, dry and almost overexposed. The maturity of the grapes, often amplified by the Noble rot, are outsized and impose the domination of the Terroir on names varieties.

Return to the ancestral of the vineyard practice with all traditional varietals and unsorted unique harvest opens at the ALTENBERG the Pandora's box of the "Grand Vin"

Jean-Michel Deiss:

"The production of this wine is a milestone in my life as a winemaker and a break with the primacy of the grape dominant including Alsace Terroir has suffered over the past 100 years."
The soil becomes the conductor who masters and inspires in all ranges all of the performers (rootstocks and vines, all of the conditions of the vintage and even the winemaker!) in the service of a single partition: the pure expression of the Terroir, the balanced Symphony of great wine. This synthesis wine then revives the old tradition of Alsatian wines of guard and travel which, during the middle ages, the Renaissance and until the end of the 13th century, made possible the gigantic Rhenish cultural effort whose modern Alsace is the result.
