On the nose, this wine offers a bouquet of aromas of strawberries and berries, with good minerality on a flexible body. Fine and well balanced between acidity and silky texture and fruit notes. Pure and fresh finish. This wine will continue to improve over time.

Kistler is an area dedicated to viticulture and vinification of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with traditional Burgundian methods applied to vineyards in the new world. Founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler (a graduate of the University of Stanford) and his brother John, the field will be joined later by Mark Bixler who studied chemistry at the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
This is an iconic area and wine are subject to two wine critics, Robert Parker and Stephen Tanzer. They are sold only directly to consumers. There are very few importers who are lucky to have an allowance. The majority of the grapes entering in the composition of the wines of Kistler come from vineyards which belong to the domain. They extend from the Sonoma West, a distance of 8 km from the Pacific up to the region of Carneros North of San Francisco. Yields are strictly controlled and ten Chardonnay grapes all come from the same California clone (Old Wente) who has a tendency to millerandage, so to produce small grains of grapes with a high concentration of material. Fermentation is done in seven independent cellars with native yeasts, barrels are French with wood dried for three years. All wines are bottled without filtration or collage.
