Family Gauby, installed in the commune of Calce, located 20 km northwest of Perpignan is the spearhead of the Roussillon wine. The Gauby area spans approximately 85 hectares of which 45 hectares of vineyards ranging up to 0 years and 40 other hectares of meadows, forests of Oaks and garrigues an incredible and unique aromatic complexity.

The environment of the area Gauby still very preserved, wild, barren, steep and hilly (up to 300 m). It offers beautiful terroirs which the vertical layers allow the roots to dig deep. Soils composed of limestones, marls and Shales, components that find themselves in some places intimately involved.

The Gérard Gauby job to respect the environment, to take as allied nature, source of inspiration by referring to several cultures apart from chemicals and synthetic and using preparations "House "at base of plants (more than 20) and other natural products such as essential oils, compost, etc.

A work enabling Gérard make the most of its land and search for elegance and freshness in its wines. The goal is to preserve the natural balance and remain free in its choices. It is and will remain farmers.

Explain "terroir" Gauby domain in a few words, it's a little like summarize the bible in a few lines. To locate them, the terroirs of the area (between 150 and 200 meters of altitude), dominate the sea to the East, at about 20 km and benefit from a significant marine influence. Sedimentary limestone to the North and Shales from primary school further South are sometimes intimately involved, arranged in vertical strata, they allow a deep rooting in the vineyard.

Created by Gérard Gauby, now assisted by his son Lionel, the area is today biodynamic, and continues his style with fine, precise and taut wines. The domain Gauby produced in red from the sides of the Roussillonfins and balanced, that age very well, as well as the wines of the Catalan side country in mineral and pure white that express a superb aromatic freshness. Gauby wines are essential references for fans of " Grands Crus " of Roussillon.
