The lighthouse of Stéphane Montez cuvée is part of the finest ds St. Joseph circle, if this isn't the best... Be beautiful Côte Rôtie airs...
The cuvée of Grandpa was named when the father of Stéphane Montez became a grandfather, the first vintage date of 1989. A result blend of the most beautiful slopes of old vineyards of syrah in granitic soils.
A wine with a dark Ruby dress seduced to outright by his very fragrant nose, dominated by violet and spices (nutmeg nuts, spices), and the zan and a hint of vanilla. The mouth is all in Velvet, very elegant and long with a flexible and balanced tannic structure curiously recalling a very nice Côte Rôtie...

The field
Stéphane Montez is one of the most dynamic sector of Chavanay winemakers has in recent years managed to become a must for lovers of Northern Rhône wines.
The area of the Monteillet is first a family history. It is indeed the ninth generation that exploits these lands in Chavanay. Today, the vineyard is located on 24 acres: Syrah for reds of St. Joseph and Côte-Rôtie, Roussanne and Marsanne for the St. Joseph White, for the Condrieu Viognier.
The vines enjoy a unique microclimate where there is little rainfall, but the good air for ventilation from each vine. The ground is made of pebbles coming to capture the heat of the Sun to better disseminate the night. The new winery in the domain of the Monteillet, offering views of the Rhone Valley, allows Stéphane Montez still more precision during the vinification of grapes harvested by hand and placed in small crates.
