The Vines of this pure Syrah come from a plot in front of the estate, on the left bank of the Rhône. It is a terrace of rolled pebbles of the Rhône which, heated by the sun, diffuse at night a gentle heat, favoring the concentration and maturity of the grapes.
100% Syrah using ancient techniques with very little So2, it is bred in French oak lightning.

Reasoned agriculture. Manual harvest with sorting at the vine and then second sorting in the cellar.
Controlled yield of 30 hl/ha
At the winery
Harvest scuffed at 60%, whole harvest at 40%. Maceration of 15 days in a submerged hat. Slow and gradual fermentation. Low-pressure pneumatic pressing so as not to burst the glitches.
Raised in lightning 30hl of French oak, no racking.

Stéphane Montez is one of the most dynamic winemakers in the Chavanay sector, and in recent years has managed to become a must-see for wine lovers in the Northern Rhône.
The Domaine du Monteillet is first and foremost a family affair. It is in fact the ninth generation that exploits this land located in Chavanay. Today, the vineyard is located on 24 hectares: Syrah for the reds of Saint-Joseph and Côte-rotie, Roussanne and Marsanne for the white Saint-Joseph, Viognier for the Condrieu.
The vines benefit from a unique micro-climate where the rains are low, but the air is present to ensure the ventilation of each vine. The ground is made of rolled pebbles that capture the heat of the sun to better diffuse it at night.
The new winery of the Monteillet estate, offering a stunning view of the Rhône Valley, allows Stéphane Montez to gain even more precision when making grapes harvested by hand and placed in small crates.
