A magnificent cuvée, at the same time greedy, structured, winey with a very nice length in the mouth.
"The Malbecs is in a closing stage, with a tight but refined nose. The mouth is fleshy, dense, manly but precise tannins. It can be measured in beautiful cahors." 16.5/20 RVF Guide 2020
This 0%Malbec cuvée is always admirable for fruit, freshness and high intensity. Her dress is black as ink. The nose is intense, floral (violet, peony..) and spicy. The mouth is full and suave, delicate, with fair tannins.
Malbec, also called cot or auxerrois, is native to the south-west of France (Quercy), especially in Cahors where it is the main grape variety.
Highly cultivated in Bordeaux, until the destruction of the vineyard by the phylloxera (1880) and the great frost of 1956, it later gave way to
other grape varieties (merlot, cabernet..).
It is one of the 6 grape varieties approved in the Bordeaux appellation where it is little produced and often assembled; we chose to vinify it and raise it
"alone" for this vintage.
Located on hillsides in the South Langonnais area, this small property is held with care and passion by Hélène and David Barrault. This young couple has revived this terroir by taking over, ten years ago, a whole heritage of old vines.
They produce superb fruit wines with a texture and depth as is rarely found in this sector, best known for its intense productivity and relative hardiness!
The latest vintages perfectly illustrate the progress of this area, which we strongly recommend.
The story of a name:
The Côte de Tire pé owes its name to a daily and well-known aboriginal agrarian scene, in which workhorses relieved themselves of their efforts to climb the property by "pulling the fart".
Since the end of 1997, Mr. and Mrs. Barrault have been cultivating these magnificent plots perched on their promontory.
A real terroir
Located on the top of the Argilo-calcaire hillsides, overlooking the 80-metre Garonne, this exceptional terroir exposed largely to the south, offers great qualitative potential.
The philosophy of the castle
"The happiness of our profession lies in the respect, attention and understanding of this terroir so that it can give us its most beautiful fruits."
