Enter the world of Nicolas Joly! This wine comes from 23 to 28 years vineyards on slopes oriented rather East and shale soils, quartz and sand. Yields are generally 30-35 hectolitres per hectare (permissions are 50 hectos/acre)

"The 2016 vintage took place somewhat tumultuous way from a climate point of view, a late-spring cold fortunately we were able to escape the gel but particularly humid June or massive rains have heavily deteriorated the" bloom. Then a very hot summer, autumn has finally regulate the climate excess and allow the grape to reach a beautiful maturity.

Biodynamics allows us to help the vine to balance the excesses that it undergoes. A valerian tea when frost risk arises, a stimulation of quartz in an excess of water.  

This agricultural practice, an extension of all the invisible actions of nature that from a bud gives a fruit, allows us to get grapes expressing perfectly and authentically vintage and terroir.

The harvest began on 7 October and were fast enough, coulure in June having taken 50%of the harvest.

Golden grapes, botrytis and a frame finely sculpted the 2016 are a beautiful expression of our chenin. Still a little closed around their youth we invite you to let them rest a bit in the cellar either to open 24 hours before tasting with a decanting." Nicolas Joly

Nicolas Joly is a major figure in biodynamics. Now assisted by his daughter Virginia, he strives to give birth to great white wines, whose richly formed materials are capable of a very long aging.
In addition to its iconic vintage, the casting emissions, the legendary angevin field offers a remarkable Savennières white from of a distinct terroir: the old closed.
This vintage of a great natural expression we are excited from his early youth by its complexity, its depth and its energy.
"The old Clos" 20 is currently eaten in the fringance and the force of his youth. The minerality of terroir radiates a noble light on yellow fruit, white flowers and Quince aromas. The material is wide and lined with a subtle acidity. It is a wine kneaded gastronomy of assets awaiting that Nice fish to white flesh or quenelles of Pike to honor him.

Produced in small quantities, this iconic vineyard wines are revered by a faithful clientele and it is not easy to come by.

Biodynamics has been implanted in 1980, and since 1984 the vineyard all benefits. No chemicals synthetic, acaricide, pesticide, systemic, control, nitrate is used since that date. A little sulfur and Bordeaux mixture (copper and lime) is used each year (15 kg of porridge area per hectare per year, measured in copper to 20%). Sulfur is beneficial light at the time of the flowering of the vines (one or 2 treatments a 15 kg per hectare per year). Copper is limited (2 / 3 kg/hectare/year) because it slows down the soil life. All soils are grassed.

The harvest are made in 3 to 5 tris manually each year over 5 weeks between late September and early November. Fermentations extend over several months.
