The "GC" cuvée is at the top of Cahors' production.
"The breeding is controlled and just in this very concentrated wine. Fruity and ash, the nose already imposes the future aromatic power. The mouth is full, with elegant tannins and still a little stiff. Spices emerge with finesse and induce a sapid and subtly saline length." 18/20 RVF Guide 2018
Now driven into organic farming, the Château du Cedre vineyard has never produced such great wines as it is today. A perfectionist winemaker, Pascal Verhaeghe is no different in his best to reach heights of finesse and balance and his talent places the "GC" cuvée at the top of Cahors' production.
The 2014 "GC" cuvée is part of the gotha of the great red wines of the French vineyard. Harvested at perfect maturity, the grapes have given this colossus a dense material and a surprisingly gourmet fruit texture. The wine is fine and concentrated at the same time, with a great suavity of texture. It expresses black fruits, mint, cocoa and tannins line the mouth like a light cloth. The wine also reveals a minerality very characteristic of the GC cuvée, which lengthens the finish in an infinite length.
Wonderful to drink young on a red meat or to keep many years in the cellar.
