"For many observers, this is the most exciting estate in the Languedoc." Robert Parker Wine Advocate on La Pèira Established in 2004 by Robert Dougan and Karine Ahton, La Pèira en Damaisèla has unquestionably, and in just a few years, risen to the top of the Languedoc wine world. All of the wines are of the highest quality and consistency, vintage after vintage. The name of the estate comes from an Occitan mason's proverb "plaçar una pèira en damaisèla", literally to place a stone as a damsel (with its most beautiful face on the outside), which demonstrates the estate's determination to extract from nature the quintessence of what it can deliver.
La Pèira en Damaisèla is an estate of 11.6 hectares, between the Grange des Pères and Daumas Gassac on the famous Terrasses du Larzac, on a terroir of old pebbles and alluvium from the Jurassic period, very sunny and especially well drained and aerated, guaranteeing an optimal concentration and freshness of the grapes Whether in the vineyard or in the cellar, the precision and rigour of all the work produced is of the highest level, with Jérémie Depierre, a young winemaker from Château Margaux, guaranteeing the operational excellence that is carried out here. Yields are very low (less than 10 hl/ha for La Pèira...) and the double sorting guarantees exceptional quality whatever the vintage. The style of the wines of La Pèira en Damaisèla is mature, powerful and extremely elegant, qualities that are often antinomic and that can only be found in great wines conducted by talented conductors. La Pèira is a great wine, capable, let us say, of competing with the greatest wines of the world. The foreign press is not mistaken. There is already a lot of praise, from Jeb Dunnuck of the Wine Advocate to Jancis Robinson for example. Robert Dougan is honoured to offer you its famous vintages, most of which are reserved for export. For those who cannot access the masterful La Pèira, we invite them to discover Las Flors in red and Deusyls in white, two cuvées that are already among the greatest of the Languedoc.
